FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING MAKEUP/HAIR?

I have been a licensed esthetician since 2010, loving and practicing makeup before that. I went back to beauty school and got my hairdressing license in 2014, but was training to do bridal hair in the years prior.

DO YOU OFFER HAIR & MAKEUP FOR ENGAGEMENT PICTURES, REHEARSALS OR OTHER EVENTS?

Yes, of course. I have my non-bridal prices listed at the bottom of the rates page. If you aren’t sure what your event qualifies as, feel free to reach out through my ‘contact me’.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?

I do not offer any discounts. If you are on a budget feel free to let me know what it is and I can see if I have a similarly priced offering. Other-wise I may be able to refer you to a less experienced artist.

HOW SOON DO I NEED TO BOOK MY WEDDING MAKEUP AND HAIR?

I can’t hold a date without a contract and deposit. I book a max of 12 months in-advance and also close my books for a time near the end of summer. I also requires a phone call prior to all wedding bookings to make sure I can meet client expectations. Once you have secured a date and photographer, I advise that you reach out.

HOW MUCH IS MY WEDDING MAKEUP DEPOSIT/RETAINER TO HOLD MY DATE?

Retainers are 40% of the total wedding day services. The remaining balance is due one week before your wedding day.

IS MY DEPOSIT/RETAINER REFUNDABLE IF I CANCEL?

Technically no, but… due to the pandemic, I have allowed couples to transfer their retainer one time, if the date is available.

WHAT TYPE OF PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

All services are paid via an online invoice. I accept major credit cards and ACH payments from your bank account via an online portal.

DO I HAVE TO PAY IN ONE SUM OR CAN EVERYONE PAY INDIVIDUALLY?

I will send you one invoice to pay online in two separate payments. You can totally have your party pay you separately though.

WHO QUALIFIES AS AN ATTENDANT WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR RATES?

Attendants are anyone in addition to the main client (ex. bride). Bridesmaids, mother of the bride, aunties, grandmas, future in-laws, and even guests of the wedding wanting services. Whomever needs makeup service for your wedding day, we'd love to help.

WHAT IF I CAN’T MEET THE MINIMUM? DO YOU OFFER JUST HAIR AND MAKEUP FOR THE BRIDE?

I only have service minimums on Saturdays and Sundays. Even if it’s just you, yes, you have to meet that minimum. However, I offer a bridal package for a single client that would meet the minimum. If you don’t want to shell out the cash for just yourself, consider asking any special guests! They love to get their makeup done too! I personally love to give mommas special treatments. Also getting couples ready together is so fun and meaningful.

WHAT IF A BRIDESMAID ON MY CONTRACT BACKS OUT OF SERVICES?

If someone backs out of services that you have already paid a retainer on, we're not able to refund the retainer portion. If you are more than 30 days out from the wedding day, we will take the portion of their services out of the balance due. Within 30 days, you will still be responsible to pay the full balance due. If someone backs out of services, ask a friend or other family member to take their spot.

MAY WE USE A HAIR STYLIST OR MAKEUP ARTIST FROM ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER FOR OTHER MEMBERS OF THE WEDDING PARTY?

Yes, I don’t require you to book for both services. In fact, as I cannot take on parties larger than 4 people (hair & makeup) or 8 individual services, you may need it. You can book me for just your makeup and hair, you and your partners services. Or even just makeup or hair for your whole party. However, I want your look to be cohesive and consistent with the rest of your bridal party for photographs. Timing also is a huge thing to think about. Feel free to inquire and book a call if you'd like to discuss your options.

CAN I WORK WITH YOU FROM LONG DISTANCE?

Of course! I specialize in micro weddings and elopements and most of my clients are from out-of-state. We will start with a phone call. Payments and contracts are done online. I am very accustomed to working with my clients without having a trial run/preview. We can also have a more in-depth video consultation if you would like.

DO YOU CHARGE A TRAVEL FEES?

Yes, I charge a travel fee for all on-location jobs outside of Seaside and Gearhart OR.

AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR PARKING/VALET FEES ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Yes, due to the amount of equipment I bring to every job. Clients are responsible for any additional fees for my arrival or stay on-location. Luckily on the coast that is typically a non-issue.

DO YOU OFFER ON-LOCATION SERVICES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS OR JUST WEDDINGS?

Yes, I offer hair and makeup services for any special event you have! I will come to your location any day of the week.

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Each wedding is different. I will be happy to give you a custom quote once I know all your details. Inquire to get a custom quote started.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE PER PERSON FOR SERVICES ON THE WEDDING DAY?

The time varies per look and client, typically I need 90 minutes for full hair and makeup. I will book more if it is for the main client especially if we haven’t had a trial run. After our initial phone call, I will make you up a mock timeline with estimated service times.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED THE DAY OF THE WEDDING?

On the wedding day, I will bring everything I need to provide the services to you at your location. Outside of hair extensions and hair accessories. The only thing I need is space to set up and access to an electrical outlet.

HOW SHOULD MY PARTY AND I PREPARE FOR THE DAY OF?

Everyone should come with a clean moisturized skin and clean, DRY hair. If you have very curly, coily hair and want heat styling, your texture should be stretched or blown out. If your hair is curly and you plan to wear your natural texture, but still want it styled or touch-up. Do your normal routine but make sure it's completely dry. Make sure that if your party has a look/specific style in-mind they have a reference photo.

DO YOU OFFER FACIALS LEADING UP TO THE WEDDING DAY?

I do not currently offer facials, though I am an esthetician. I would be happy to help you build a customized skincare routine. If you would rather in-person services I may be able to help find an esti bestie near you. Healthy skin makes for the best makeup looks.

WHAT TYPE OF MAKEUP DO YOU USE?

I carry a variety of pro and high-end luxury brands. I try to carry brands that not only perform, but are inclusive and good for all skin types. Face Atelier, Charlotte Tilbury, MUFE, Viseart, Danessa Myricks, Dose of Colors, Black/OPL etc.. Have an allergy? Please let me know.

IS YOUR KIT SANITARY? I AM FREAKED OUT ABOUT GERMS.

Sanitation is my priority! You'll see me use freshly cleaned brushes, tools and new disposables on each and every client. I wash my hands, use sanitizer between clients, and keep our metal tools clean with alcohol spray. My policy is to keep our products clean, sanitary and fresh. I wipe down all surfaces, and clean our kits between every job. Your safety is our priority, even before Covid-19. With Covid-19, I have added even more infection control protocols, including Masking.

ARE LASHES INCLUDED IN MY WEDDING MAKEUP SERVICE?

Yes. Individual lashes for the main client (ex. bride). Though I typically use individual lashes on everyone, depending on time restrictions, others may get strips. If you have a preference on style, you are free to bring your own.

IS THE MASCARA YOU USE ON MY WEDDING DAY WATERPROOF?

I prefer to use waterproof, unless requested otherwise.  Infact, most of the makeup I use is long-wear, water-resistant or waterproof.

ARE YOU ABLE TO DO A VARIETY OF SKIN TONES?

Absolutely! Though most of my clientele is light to medium skintones, I have a makeup kit that is stocked with global skintones in mind. I take additional education every year to better myself as an artist. It is very important to me that Black women and all POC feel heard and cared for. I would be happy to refer you to a more experienced artist if you prefer that. I will never tell you to bring your own makeup (unless you have a specific allergy).

CAN YOU GET RID OF MY WRINKLES/PORES/FRECKLES COMPLETELY?

I can’t get rid of wrinkles, fine lines, pores, and scaring. I never want to mislead anyone but I cannot remove texture. Discoloration is a different story, redness and freckles can be covered. I will be honest, that is not usually my style or preference. I will take your lead on coverage, but I prefer clean, fresh looking skin. I do use wonderful, luxury skincare to help hydrate, smooth and plump skin, for beautiful makeup applications. I am also happy to work with you leading up to your event, so your skin is extra healthy and beautiful.

ARE YOU ABLE TO COVER TATTOOS?

Yes, although it is far from my specialty. If you have a tattoo that needs to be covered, please email with a couple of photos of the tattoo you would like to cover and we can quote accordingly. Please note that proper tattoo coverage can take as much time as an entire face, sometimes longer if the area you want to be covered is large. Tattoo coverage starts at $50 and up.

CAN YOU DO EYES ONLY FOR MY BRIDESMAIDS? WHAT'S THE COST?

I do not offer partial services, but we can do just lashes. It makes a big difference in the look of eye makeup and only takes about 10 minutes. Plus they are applied after all the makeup is done, so your people can arrive fully ready for this service. This service is not advertised but you can request it.

CAN YOU DO MEN’S SERVICES ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Absolutely! I try to keep my services non-gendered, however I have and do services for men/the groom every year. I do not consider myself a proficient barber, so I still stick to styling services. Meaning no haircuts. I will trim brows and other facial hair, add products where necessary. I offer a lite makeup service if someone wants to look photo ready but not like they are wearing makeup.

CAN WE USE YOUR MAKEUP/HAIR SPRAY IF WE AREN’T USING YOUR SERVICES?

No. I respectfully ask that no one is allowed to touch or use anything in my kit due to infection control protocols and for liability reasons. Thank you for understanding.

IF I DON’T WANT THE LASHES, IS THE PRICE DIFFERENT?

Lashes are included in the price of makeup. I think it is a huge benefit to have false lashes for photos, and I LOVE the individual sets I do. Of course you do not have to wear them. However, if you prefer not to wear lashes, the price is the same.

HOW DO I REMOVE MY FALSE LASHES AFTER MY WEDDING?

You can use a waterproof (eye-safe) makeup remover, I suggest saturating a cotton round and gently rubbing the eye area. You can use an oil or balm cleanser, while cleansing the whole face, pay close attention to the eye area. You can also wet the eye area with water and gently pull down on the lashes. The false lashes will be much easier to remove than the waterproof mascara.

MAY WE USE A HAIR STYLIST OR MAKEUP ARTIST FROM ANOTHER SERVICE PROVIDER FOR OTHER MEMBERS OF THE WEDDING PARTY?

Yes, I don’t require you to book for both services. You can book me for just makeup, just hair, or both. However, I prefer not to work with other hair and makeup vendors if at all possible. I want your look to be cohesive and consistent with the rest of your bridal party for photographs.

WHERE DO THE MAKEUP & HAIR PREVIEWS TAKE PLACE?

All trials and in-studio appointments are in Seaside, Oregon. Currently I am working at Allure Spa & Wellness at 615 Broadway St. Suite 201 Seaside OR 97138. The building's main entrance is on Broadway, below the blue  “Zuplaw Law Firm” sign. We are up the stairs and directly on your left. There is parking behind the building along the river, as well as free street parking. We have a ADA friendly entrance on the south side of the building in the alley. If you need to use the elevator, please call ahead so I can help (the door is often locked).

WHEN DO YOU RECOMMEND GETTING A MAKEUP AND HAIR PREVIEW?

2-4 months out is my personal preference. However, in high season I don’t always have a lot of availability, so keep that in mind.

CAN I DO A MAKEUP PREVIEW BEFORE BOOKING?

Yes. If you prefer to do a makeup or hair trial before booking, I suggest coming in as soon as possible. I do not hold dates without a signed contract.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY MAKEUP PREVIEW?

I suggest you bring a picture of your dress, makeup styles that inspire you, and makeup you don’t like. Also, bring your daily makeup bag of colors and products so that we can see the colors and textures you’re used to. As well as any hair accessories you are planning to wear.

CAN I BRING FRIENDS WITH ME TO THE MAKEUP PREVIEW?

Of course! However I have a shared space, so only one additional person is allowed due to space constraints.

ARE YOU GOING TO STAY UNTIL AFTER THE CEREMONY IN CASE I CRY?

Unless hired to stay-on for touch ups. I will pack up and leave as soon as all booked services are finished. The main client booked will receive a full touch up kit. If you are still worried, you can pay per hour for around the clock touch-ups or even look changes.

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE WITH ME FOR WEDDING DAY TOUCH-UPS?

For touch-ups, I recommend having me with you. However if the hourly rate isn’t in the budget and the mini touch-up kit isn’t enough. A full sized lip product and powder touch up should be satisfactory. Feel free to ask me what to order.

WHAT IF I WANT TO PURCHASE PRODUCTS YOU USED FOR MY WEDDING DAY?

If you would like to purchase products, I first ask that you check the “Kit List” on shopmyshelf  here. Otherwise you can email me for specific links.

WHAT IF I AM DISSATISFIED WITH MY MAKEUP?

I hope it doesn't come to that. If at any time you’re unhappy, speak up! It won’t hurt my feelings, this is about you. This is a collaboration between your style and preferences and my skills. We will work together to build a look you love. This is your wedding day, I want you to love it.

I LOVED MY MAKEUP. HOW CAN I REVIEW YOUR BUSINESS?

Reviews mean the most. If you’ve used my services, I prefer reviews on Google. Reviews on Facebook, The Knot or Wedding Wire are also helpful. If for some reason you were not happy with your service, please reach out. I want to be sure I offered you the highest level of service. If I fall short, I need to hear.
